Shira Parks DVM, MS, has been a mid-western cat lover her whole life. After growing up in the suburbs of Chicago, she received her Bachelors of Arts in biology and minor in biochemistry at Augustana College, followed by a Masters of Science in biology from Roosevelt University. Her primary area of study was glaucoma research. While working in veterinary clinics throughout college and graduate school, she realized her ultimate calling to be a veterinarian and achieved that goal at the University of Illinois.
Through her veterinary career and schooling, Dr.Parks has gained particular interests in feline behavior, dentistry, and surgery. However, she fully admits that she loves “all things cat” and loves being a part of making their lives better and longer with diligent preventative care.
In her spare time, Dr.Parks enjoys her time with her three cats (Finnegan, Sherlock, and Isa), her 9 year old Opaline lovebird (Gonio), and her husband (Chad). She loves crafting and gardening, and is very excited about exploring the Madison area bike and hiking paths even more.
