Cat Care Clinic is excited to welcome Dr. Chris Baker to join us in our mission to provide exceptional care to Madison area cats. Dr. Baker grew up in the country near Marinette, WI (up north!) where he was fortunate to be surrounded and loved by many pets, large and small. His fond memories include pups Sadie, Buddy, Charlie, Mason, and Louie. He also enjoyed play and shadow-lurking, stalking kitties Prince and Scooter. His late grandparents lived on a small family farm where we would go see their sheep, cows, and chickens… and ride Grandpa Howard’s trusty tractor!
After many years of education at UW-River Falls, followed by the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine, he decided to contribute his skills and great personality to the wonderful world of feline veterinary medicine! He is passionate about the broad spectrum of care Cat Care Clinic cats receive, from environmental enrichment tips to advanced procedures to meticulous senior care and management (and everything in between).
A little about Dr.Baker’s own cats:
“I have two young cats who are best friends with each other. Daisy is my calico girl cat. She’s a very opinionated yet affectionate little creature! My partner (who is also a veterinarian) and I performed Daisy’s spay during vet school and decided to adopt her after she won us over with her quirky personality. Our other cat is a brown and black tabby named Bumi. He’s very smart and picks up on training and tricks incredibly fast. It seems like he never learned how to properly meow as a kitten. We hear some interesting chirps and chatter from him throughout the day! Daisy and Bumi love to snuggle up next to each other in the sun for most of the day!”
When not tending to his kitties and loved ones, Dr. Baker enjoys cooking, hiking, and exploring the bike paths/trails throughout the area. He also loves watching Formula 1 racing on the weekends.
Ask Dr. Baker about clicker-training tips for your kitty!
“I’m a strong believer in clicker-training pets! I learned the ins and outs of animal behavior and training during my undergraduate studies, which made me realize how useful (and fun!) clicker training is! My two cats are pros with a clicker and love the enrichment it provides.”
What he loves about CCC:
“My first impressions of CCC were extremely positive. Everyone here exudes the utmost respect and love for cats no matter their circumstances.”
