Dr. Emily Houge, a native of Iowa, earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2013. She practiced in exceptional AAHA accredited practices for over seven years in LaCrosse and Winona, and has been a long time active member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners. She began her search, both near and far, for a quality feline-specialty practice to continue her career focusing on her passion (cats!). We are honored that she chose to join us at Cat Care Clinic in early 2019.
Dr. Houge has worked extensively with animal shelters and rescues. She was on the Board of Directors for the Coulee Region Humane Society for years. This, in addition to her years of focused veterinary practice, has led her to be skilled in specialized surgeries including orthopedics, urinary tract surgery, and advanced soft tissue surgeries. She also has a passion for treating and preventing dental disease and performing oral surgery. However, she also thrives on the day to day practice of seeing her patients and helping with nutrition, kitten stages, and graceful aging in senior cats. She bonds immediately with clients and cats, and we love having her a part of our team.
Dr.Houge that three cats of her own, all of which have been nutritional projects for her. With three very sensitive stomachs to feed and care for, she can relate well to many cat parents with similar challenges! She also loves exploring Madison more and exploring the world in general.
