Doctor of Veterinary Medicine
BA, Concordia College, Moorhead, MN
UW School of Veterinary Medicine-DVM
Dr. Carrie Bunger has happily called Madison home for over 13 years. After spending the majority of her childhood in Montana, she pursued her undergraduate degree at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. A position at the University of Wisconsin brought her to Madison and she started working in the primate research facilities. Shortly thereafter she began the road to fulfilling her dream of becoming a veterinarian at the UW.
After receiving her veterinary degree, Dr. Bunger worked in emergency and critical care, did specialized training in anesthesia and pain management, and practiced general medicine by caring for anything from cats to birds to small mammals. She always had a strong affinity for felines and jumped at the opportunity to work solely with cats at Cat Care Clinic in June of 2013. She is a member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners and has a particular interest in feline anesthesia and dermatology.
Dr. Bunger shares her home with her husband, two black cats, Ivory (the boss) and Blaster (the accomplished hunter that chipmunks fear), one goofy tail-wagging black Labrador retriever (Ubu), two black and white guinea pigs (one-eyed Popeye and easy-going Bluto) and some fish. In her spare time, she enjoys exercising her dog, running, swimming, fishing, Wisconsin sports (collegiate and professional), and spending time with friends. After several very successful halfs, Dr. Bunger is currently training for her first marathon at the end of 2015.
“I love the individualism of cats. What works for one cat may not work for another, which makes feline medicine more challenging. Cats do not read the book!”
