Pet Loss and Grief Support
Some of you may ask why this is the longest section on our website. It is because death is a part of the cycle of life, and as much as we want our kitties to live forever, a day will come when we need to say goodbye. And for most people, that is the hardest. But making that final decision to let your cat go when he or she can no longer be helped is the last gift - an act of kindness. And studies show that it can be easier for you if you prepare in advance.
Please know that we will do whatever we can to be there for you until the end – and beyond. Whether in our comfort room, or in your home or yard, we will give your pet a comfortable death (the meaning of euthanasia) when it’s time. As hard as it is for you - and for us too – it is an honor to be able to be there with you and your kitties to say goodbye and to memorialize these dear friends and family members.
Poem: Saying Good-Bye to a Friend
If it should be that I grow frail and weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep
Then you must do what must be done
For this, the last battle, can't be won.
How to I know when it’s time?
One of the hardest questions and decisions is to be able to recognize when it’s time to say goodbye.
Why do we grieve so after the loss of a pet?
For many of us, our pets are our best friends. They give us unconditional love and loyalty, which often cannot or is not provided by the humans we interact with. One of the most important goals at the Cat Care Clinic is to listen and understand the impact that pet loss can have.
The Stages of Grief
Whether a cat dies at home or needs to be euthanized, the stages of grief are the same. These are family members and it is right to grieve.
How to Prepare for Pet Loss
Although the decision to euthanize is a very difficult one, it is a kind and compassionate decision to prevent suffering when "it's time". We can help you with those difficult decisions.
